April 30th!

Dear Family and Friends!
This week was really long!
On Sunday we had to leave church early because Sister Combe was not feeling well. So we went to the doctors. He said that she had kidney stones and told her that she should go to the ER. But we didn't go to the ER until Tuesday. The Stevenons's were kind enough to drive us. I felt so bad for S. Combe! She was in SO much pain!! They ran a lot of tests for her. Like a urine sample, blood test, a CT scan, and pregnancy test! And an ultrasound. We were probably at the hospital for like 6 hours. And most of that was just us waiting for the test results. But we were able to finally go home and rest. I made sure that S. Combe was getting enough sleep.
And then Friday we had district meeting and interviews. District meeting went well. Elder Burbank is a great teacher. I learn a lot for him. We are learning about how to become better teachers. And the spirit was really there.

Later on we had interviews with President Brennan. He is such a wise man. I told him what I've been going through. Just being really hard on myself. And he listened to me with love and gave me some very wise counsel! He is the example of a perfect, and obedient teacher. I look up to him a lot.
On Saturday. Sis Combe and I  went to the store to buy some cookies to give to a less active family in our branch. We both had the feeling that we needed to. So we went over and they let us in. And I am so glad we came. I talked to the Brother C and basically his story of why is where he is. And it was SO spiritual. I felt the spirit so strong!! He has a strong testimony. There were times he would get teary. And I would cry with him. I felt God's perfect love for him. And what he said is exactly what I needed to hear. I know that we were seriously led there for a reason.
So basically this week I have been earning to press forward. Even through the hardest times. I have felt God's hand in my life this week. I know he perfectly understands what I'm going through. And I know I'm here for a reason. I am learning and growing everyday. And I love it! Thank you all again for you prayers. I have felt them. I love and miss you all. Continue to press forward in your hard times, and I can promise you that you will see the Lord's hand in your life :)

April 23rd Best Week!

Dear family and friends!
Friday and Saturday were the best days ever!!
So on Friday we had a lesson with one of our recent converts Heaven. And we taught her about missionary work. And how being a member missionary is important. I already told dad this, but I've been ready the book, The Power of Everyday Missionaries. And I absolutely love that book. And I tied what he said in the lesson with Heaven. After her lesson, we went door knocking. And I don't like door knocking, so I told S. Combe that we should play a game while we door knocked. So we played 20 questions. And It was actually a lot of fun. It was one of the best door knocking experiences I have had. I became more confident with myself and I had fun :) And then that night we had dinner with the Fergunson's. We had hamburgers and hotdogs. Totally reminded me of a nice summer meal.
On Saturday we had two baptisms. Saturday morning me and S. Combe went to the church to fill up the font. And while we were setting up, I was playing the piano cause I was going to play the piano for the actual ceremony. And so I was practicing. And then the ward mission leader and his wife came. And he went to feel the water and it was cold. And Mary told us she didn't want cold water. The water heater wasn't working. So he decided to boil water from the stove top and top that water in the font. So we did start the baptism a bit late. When it was time for Mary to get in the water, you could tell that she was cold because of the water! And on top of that the water wasn't deep enough. But we figured it out and she was able to be fully immersed into the water :) When she got out she started to cough like crazy. She forgot to close her mouth, close her eyes and plug her nose. But she was still happy and she was just glowing :)
That same night the Elders had a baptism. Her name is Teresa! And I just love her. I only met her twice. But I love her. I loved watching her being baptized. She was just so happy afterwards. She couldn't stop smiling :) She was just very radiant!!
Anyway I am sorry for the short letter, but that was basically the highlights of the week. It was a good week. I am doing great! I love the Lord. I love this work. And I love you all!! Thanks again for your prayers :)

Dear family and friends!
This week was good. On Tuesday we went door knocking for a little bit. And no one was really home because of spring break. So that was tough. But we went to this one house. And this young man answered the door. And he said: "can I help you?" We just said how we wanted to help them and how we are missionaries sharing a message on Jesus Christ. He said that he wasn't interested. And his mom came over and said: "you guys just don't get it. Please get off my porch." So we did. UGH! So annoying. We have had no luck door knocking lately. But that's okay. I can feel God trying our faith. He is also trying my patience. This is good for me. After we door knocked we went back to our apartment. And I got a package from a Morgan Summers. She works with dad at AF High School. She sent me lots of goodies and other things. I have never met her. But she is the nicest lady ever. Dad, tell her thank you from me! So that package really made my dad. And was what I needed.
On Wednesday, we witnessed miracles! Miracle number 1: Me and Sister Combe were serving at the library. And as we were serving we were talking to this guy named K. He asked us why we were here. And we told him that we're missionaries and that we love to serve  He asked us some more questions about our religion. And then we talked to him about the Book of Mormon. And we gave him one. And he said he would read it! We also gave him a pass along card with our number. We talked to him for about 10 minutes. And he was very nice to us.

Miracle number 2: We had a lesson with our investigator G who is getting baptized soon. He is the one that is struggling with drinking coffee. And he told us that he went a full day without drinking coffee! yay! And we also had a good lesson with him. We taught him of the Plan of Salvation. And usually when we have lessons with him he mutes the T.V. but keeps it on, and that's a real distraction, especially for me! But at this lesson he turned off the T.V. and was fully engaged in the lesson.
Miracle number 3: We were teaching our other investigator M. Who will be getting baptized this Saturday :) We talked to her about Fasting and obeying and honoring the law. And also of Prophets, Repentance, WOW, and the Sabbath Day. M's husband, J, has been listening in these lessons, but not very interested. At the end of the lesson we talked about baptism and more detail on that. Our branch president, President D joined us during this lesson as well. And he showed her the video of Christ being baptized. We could tell that M is getting exciting about baptism. Anyway towards the end of the lesson D turned to her husband and jokingly said: "do you want to be baptized?" And J says yes! So we asked him if he wanted to take the lessons and he said yes! We asked him when we wanted to start. And he said as soon as possible! We were all so shocked.
Also yesterday we had transfer calls. Of course me and Sister Combe are staying here in Portland for another 6 weeks :) I am very happy about that. Our district leader Elder Burbank is staying, and his companion Elder Stolp was transferred to Kalamazoo! And of course Elder and Sister Stevenson are staying here in Portland as well. I love my district. We are very small. But we became like family!
Well I have now been out for 2 Months! CRAZY!!!! Time has seriously gone by fast! 16 more months :)

These miracles were basically the highlights of my week. This work is becoming more enjoyable. I love it. Thanks for all your prayers. I truly feel them everyday.
Love and miss you all!

Dear Family and Friends!

This week was a lot better. And I will try my best to put in more details. Sorry if I don't I just don't remember a lot. Everything is seriously a blur.

Monday: After our p day was finished we went door knocking for a couple of hours. But it was good surprisingly. I was able to forget myself and just get to work. And the work was a lot more enjoyable. We did get rejected, but the people were very nice about it. So that was a blessing. The miracle of that night was while we were door knocking, Sister  called us and told us that this guy named G wanted to be baptized. My companion already taught him in the past and he wasn't interested. But all of a sudden he wants to be baptized, and we believe it's because of the family history he has been doing and getting into. So he is getting baptized on April 8th. We are very excited. And he will be my first baptism! So YAY!!! :)

Tuesday: All of the new missionaries and their trainers had a follow up missionary meeting, just to see how all of us new missionaries were adjusting. It was good. I was able to see all of the sisters who were in my zone and district at the MTC. It was SO GOOD to see them. They have seriously become like family. When I see them I don't get homesick anymore. But anyway the meeting went well. President Brennan is just so AMAZING! He is very bold like Elder Holland, I love it!

Wednesday: Nothing really exciting happened. We taught a recent convert. Her name is L. I just love her, she is so hilarious! Later that day we then taught our current investigator F.  He is doing better. He still doesn't know if he wants to be baptized. But that's alright, he is still coming to Church every Sunday. So he is still progressing :) After his lesson we went to Ss house, she is catholic.

And I don't think she's interested in taking the discussions, but she has us come once a week to come to her house and serve. So last week we cleaned her house while she was doing another project. She was also nice enough to invite us for dinner this Thursday. I get along with her so well. I love to talk with her, and I hope one day she'll become a member.

Thursday me and Sister Combe did some service at the food bank for a few hours. I like to serve there. It's a great way to forget yourself and get to work! I love it. After that we went to G's house plan for his baptism and days we can come over to teach him last minute lessons before he is baptized. He is very excited! :) Later that night we went to the H's home for dinner and a lesson. So before our lesson there was a bit of contention between their family, but once we opened the Book of Mormon and read a chapter with them the contention left. That just proves how powerful the BOM is! There was just a peace in their home afterwards. I know that the BOM is true!!!!

Friday was an amazing day! We had the opportunity to go to the Lamb of God. The Lamb of God was kind of like a musical. They had an Orchestra and a choir. With soloists and narrators. And they were just talking of Christ's resurrection. It was just SO amazing. The music was just so beautiful! They are other religions who also go to see the Lamb of God. So I thought that was really neat! But President Brennan had us take off our name tags because the people of lamb of God make us. It did feel weird. I am already attached to my name tag, so taking it off was weird.

Saturday Sister Combe and I were on a car fast, so we were going to knock doors. And it was freezing outside. So we walked down town and stopped at  this ice cream place called the Chocolate Moose. ( I didn't get any ice cream, still not eating sweets) And we served there. We helped the lady there stuff eggs with candy for a Easter egg hunt they will be having soon. I love doing small acts of service like these. Later the Stevenson's and me and my companion we to visit the less actives in our branch, but none of them were home. But that's ok we were able to drop by a recent converts home, to see how see was doing we also gave her a plate of cookies. Serving others is just the best! I really do love this work. Even thought it's very hard and difficult, it is worth every minute :)

And yesterday was the Sabbath Day. It was a good day. It was fast Sunday. So me and my companion fasted for the members in our branch, that they will be able to do missionary work as well. We just need to work in more unity together. But I can testify that fasting can truly bring miracles. The branch mission leader brought up in our branch council meeting that all of the members need to be missionaries as well, and to not be afraid to open their mouths, and also to think of referrals to give to us.

And then in relief society they asked me and Sister Combe what they could do and we just said missionary work. And they said they would. That is what we fasted for! So I have a feeling that this week is going to be a better week :) Later that night we went to a Easter Devotional. We were able to take our investigator F to it as well. The music was just amazing. The Spirit was there! Afterwards we asked F how he liked it. And he said he loved it :)

Well that was my week! As you can see a lot better than last week :) Thank you all for your prayers. I love and miss you all. :)
